Wesley "Wes" Studi (December 17, 1947-) is an American actor of Cherokee Indian descent.
Innate around Nofire Hollow, Oklahoma, Studi was schooled on the reservation. Until he attended elementary school, he spoke simply Cherokee. Around 1967, he was drafted into the Army and served 18 months around Vietnam. Fallowing his discharge, Studi exposed at Tulsa Junior College.
He is better known for his roles when each brave out & vicious Indians, within such roles when a Pawnee warrior in Dances With Wolves and as Magua in The Last of the Mohicans. Inside 2002, Studi brought to life a legendary Tony Hillerman character Lt. Joe Leaphorn, for a series of PBS movies produced by Robert Redford. He has an extended working friendly relationship by having director Michael Mann, having worked by using him in The Last of the Mohicans, Heat, and a 2006 feature film version of Miami Vice.
Additionally to acting, Studi occurs as stone carver, an creator of deuce kids's books, & plays bass in a local band.
